How the Puppy Grew

A Brief Timeline of That Dog Don't Hunt

2017-2020: Jim Newman ―  a regular columnist for The Nipissing Reader  ― creates a collection of columns he has written over three years. He calls the collection "Tales from the Hunt Camp Porch".

What follows here is how this "puppy" grew into a book called That Dog Don't Hunt.
May 2020: Newman submits the rough draft of "Tales from the Hunt Camp Porch" to FriesenPress for an Editors Manuscript Evaluation.

The editor’s response:

“I definitely think there is a market for a book like this, I enjoyed this book. I’m not a hunter and I am pretty squeamish about the whole gun idea … Most importantly, the stories were predominantly focused on the family and social aspects of hunting. I particularly enjoyed the very human stories and the self-deprecating humour you used throughout, and I laughed out loud during the turkey article ($$$) and the article called 'That Dog Don’t Hunt!'”

September 2020:
First draft is submitted to FriesenPress.
